Guide updated · verify NSW National Parks the morning you go
These plans are built around a real Sydney or Central Coast day — drive time, car parks, stairs back up, the $8 vehicle fee, and how much energy the group actually has. They are not “do every waterfall before lunch” lists. Pick the plan that matches your group, then open it for a timeline, packing notes, parking tips and what to skip.
Print from any plan page (browser print), or grab the free day planner (PDF) or HTML anytime — no email gate.
Every itinerary defers to NSW National Parks for track status, fees, camping and alerts. Day-use dominates; verify any camping on NPWS only — never affiliated on this site.
Which plan fits you?
- Half-day Somersby Falls — first visit, stairs OK, waterfall is the point.
- Waterfall + picnic — same falls, more table time; lock-time clock still rules.
- Family Girrakool — 2 km loop, path-only engraving, BBQ base.
- Lookouts + picnic — low-step Plan B when stairs or parking fail.
- Longer sandstone — Piles Creek or Wondabyne–Patonga for people who already know the picnic nodes.
If two plans both sound good, pick the shorter one. You can always upgrade on the ground; you cannot invent daylight on the M1 home.
